Hole 2
This tee shot is usually into the prevailing westerly wind, so to get over the bunkers will require a good hit. Whether you lay up or elect to play over the traps, you will need to concentrate on the approach shot, which is up hill to a narrow entrance. Take plenty of club as the green is above you with a slope to reject any shot that is short of the green.

Hole 4
Play your tee shot to favour the right side of the fairway to counteract the slope. The second shot is to a well guarded narrow green measuring 36 yards in length and sloping from front to back. In running conditions, you may elect to play for the front of the green and let the ball release down the slope.

Hole 7
Tee shots should favour the left side of the fairway here, especially when the wind is off the sea. The approach shot is all up hill, so take more club than you first think necessary, but keep in mind that anything short of the pin will leave an easier up hill putt or chip as this green slopes steeply from back to front.

Hole 10
With lots of room on the right you are advised to aim for that side of the fairway. The approach to the green should again favour the right, so aim for just to that side of the marker post wherever the pin is positioned. Once again this is a long green so extra club will be required if the pin is at the back.

Hole 11
From the men's tee, a line just to the left of the marker is ideal for a second shot straight into the green. Ladies should aim straight over the right-hand marker post. The drive is up hill from both tees but good hits will get you to level ground from where the approach should ideally be faded into the right-hand side of the green to leave an opportunity for a birdie.

Hole 12
A tough long hole, but with the prevailing wind behind you, long hitters can get home in two by playing at the marker posts. Normally however, one would aim just right of the marker posts and then play the second shot down the left side of the fairway for a pitch into the green. The green slopes steeply from back to front so be positive, but try to leave the ball just short of the pin for an easier up hill putt and a chance to get one back.

Hole 14
With the fairway sloping from right to left you must get your ball to land on the right side of the fairway. Long hitters may reach the green in two by taking a more central line, but the second shot also needs to favour the right side where a bank will help any slightly pushed shot back onto the putting surface.

Hole 15
Favour the left side of the fairway from the tee and then your second shot should bisect the space between the trees on the right and the wall on the left. The approach shot is to a long two-tiered green set at an angle to the fairway. Check the position of the pin as it is essential to get your ball on the same tier as the pin for easier putting.

Hole 16
It is tempting to cut the corner of this sharp dog-leg, but the percentage shot is to aim for the marker post as a shot from the fairway will provide a better angle into this well guarded green. With an easterly wind long hitters may cut the corner and get very close to the green - but is it worth the risk?

Hole 18
Long hitters can aim their drive at the left-hand bunkers and try to carry them. However a sensible shot would be a long iron down the centre of the fairway with the slope taking the ball across to the right-hand side. The second shot should favour the right half of the fairway to keep away from the OOB on the left - this will leave a pitch to the green that is slightly above the fairway, so you will not be able to see the base of the pin.
