Thurlestone Golf Club has a very active and competitive junior section which has experienced a good deal of success during 2009.  The Club is also very proud of its Golf Mark award and is endeavouring to build and sustain the improvements of the past couple of seasons.

Regular coaching sessions - on Monday evenings throughout the summer months, and a full range of competitions, ensure that there is always plenty for junior golfers to be involved in at the Club.  The Club has a Junior Committee which oversees the activities of the Section and any junior wishing to join or take part should in the first instance contact the office for advice and further information.

TGC Juniors

End of season news 2011

Congratulations once again go to Thurlestone Juniors in what is turning out to be a special year. Thurlestone, toppled the favourites and multiple Tamar Cup winners St Austell at Staddon in an amazing match 2 - 1. Ollie Walsh and Robert Came triumphed with a dog licence score which was filtered back to the two remaining matches and really helped keep the rest of the team believing they could win. Tom Leach and Cameron Day held their opponents for the front nine but playing against a formidable pair told in the end and their match was lost 3+2. This allowed them to join the throng that was watching the middle match of Jamie Johnson and Beth Yeoman who had gone 2 up but found themselves 2 down with 4 to play. Jamie cooly holed a 20 foot putt from off the green for birdie at the short 15th to get it back to one and Beth held her nerve at both 16, 17 and 18 to hole yardage to take the match back down the first. Jamie Johnsons 300 yard drive and pitch to 5 feet set up a chance of a win and a St Austell 15 footer down the hill meant that Jamie needed his birdie to close out the match which he calmly stroked into the middle of the hole for birdie that rendered the St Austell's Presidents lucky Tamar Cup hat worthless!!! Many congratulations on reaching the Tamar Cup final which is at Launceston on October 1st and many thanks to Liz line for organising the day and Roger Leach for his valued support on the day.
