The Doris Willes-Little Foursomes knockout competition has been running since 1948, when the Doris Willes-Little Cup was presented in memory of the eponymous lady. The first year it was won by East Devon. This year we are rooting for the two Lizzes.

Ladies club championship

The Ladies championship was a 36 hole competition held over two extremely windy days but Jennifer Roberts managed to win the Oswald Cup for the nineteenth time, and Barbara Smith won the Ford Salver for best nett score. Fiona Turner won the Bronze Bowl for the best gross score in Division two. Congratulations to all 18 ladies that took part. Also congratulations to Pam Adams who got a hole in one on the 3rd!

Thurlestone play Bigbury away for the Buckingham Bowl

THURLESTONE RETAIN THE BUCKINGHAM BOWL AT BIGBURY” On a pleasant Spring afternoon on Sunday a Mixed team from Thurlestone was entertained by Bigbury in their annual fixture for the Buckingham Bowl. In Bigbury’s Centenary year, Thurlestone were the eventual winners by 5 ½ to 2 ½ with wins for Alan and Maggie Best, Graham and Barbara Smith, Peter and Liz Coates, Owen Rees and Diane Baker and Paul Milburn-Fryer and Joan Booth. Following the match, there was a dinner and presentation of the Bowl, during which both Captains remarked on the fine condition of the golf course. Thurlestone will now look after the Buckingham Bowl until next year’s match at Thurlestone.

Report on “325 Celebrations Cup” held Saturday 1st October , at Thurlestone Golf Club Over a three year period, three South Devon coastal golf clubs are celebrating special anniversaries and decided it would be nice to have an event between the clubs as part of the celebrations. Thurlestone are celebrating their 125th anniversary this year, Bigbury Centenary is in 2023 and Teignmouth Centenary is 2024, hence the 325 Celebrations Cup event was evolved.
