MEN'S SCRATCH COUNTY FOURSOMES - Colin & Dan come second!

When the mist lifted and the DevonGolf Competitions Director, Tim Aggett, sent the players on their way for the first of two 18-hole Foursomes rounds. First out, Jay Scortt & Samuel Palmer (Tiverton), posted an excellent 72 gross, setting the target for the players behind. No one matched this but Fingle Glen's Dan Brown & Luke Burchell posted a 73, as did Woodbury Park's Pete Lawrence & David Baldwin. It was tight at the top.

In the Handicap competition after the first round, Dan Brown & Luke Burchell (PH 4) were looking good with a nett 69, hotly pursued by Alex Gibson & Sam Pryce (PH 6 - Tiverton) with nett 70, alongside Ben Reynolds & Alexander Worthington (PH 7 - Exeter). Again, it was everything to play for.

It was an excellent but quick lunch in the clubhouse and back on the course for round 2. The Scratch competition saw a mixed bag of results as tiredness crept in, the 16th hole proved to be a nemesis for many, and the competition opened up. Only half the players were able to improve their first round score and that didn't include the eventual winners. Dan Brown & Luke Burchell dropped 2 shots, posting a second round 75 for a total 148 - but it was good enough to win the Scratch competition by 3 shots. In second place were Colin George & Dan Rosevear (Thurlestone) with rounds of 74 and 77 for a 151 total. Just 1 shot behind them were Tiverton's Alex Gibson & Sam Pryce with 2 steady rounds of 76 for a 152 total.
