Bryan Brown mixed doubles Cup event
There was a full entry for the Bryan Brown mixed doubles tournament and with the grass courts drying out sufficiently it gave some really exciting grass court tennis.
Each round robin group was named after the Wimbledon mixed doubles finalists (Jamie, Martina, Heather & Henri) and after 5 closely fought matches in the groups, the winners qualified for the semi finals:
Henry Lewis and Sasha Handover beat Charlie Witter and Immy Walker 6-4.
Casper Hill and Hannah Woodhead beat Jamie Handover and Fizzy Kemp 6-2.
In an exciting final where Henry and Sasha led 5-1, Casper and Hannah upped their game to pull it back to 5 games all then at 6 all and in a convincing tie break there was no stopping the winners Casper and Hannah who took the match by 7 games to 6.
We were honoured to have Chris Bryan Brown to present the cup, he thanked all those playing and the numerous spectators saying that the competition had been going since the 1930’s on just four courts (now 12) and he complimented all players on the really high standard of play.
