Thurlestone Golf Club

Palairet v Saunton

The Palairet side travelled to the Warren Golf Club on Sunday to face last year's winners Saunton.  despite a brave showing the team lost 2 - 3.

First pair Steve & Darrell (pictured above) unusually received 3 shots against a very good top pair from Saunton.  Experience and good golf won through resulting in a 2 and 1 victory for the Thurlestone pair.

Second Pair Dave and Simon (pictured above fought back from 2 down early on to go 1 up after 15 however they could not hold off a strong Saunton pair who eventually came out winners 2 and 1

Third Pair were Toby and George (pictured above).  It was great to see George was playing in his first Palairet Match with Toby and if, in the future we are to progress in these types of competitions we must introduce new blood to the team.  Both Toby and George acquitted themselves extremely well going down to an excellent pair from Saunton 2 and 1.

Fourth pair were Steve and Dan (pictured above).  The Warren can be an unforgiving place to play golf sometimes with unfair bounces and good shots penalised. The rub of the green was not on Steve and Dan's side and they recorded a heavy defeat.

Fifth Pair were father and son Dean & Vinney (pictured above) both experiencing the Palairet for the first time and they had a great game at the back winning 3 and 2.

We thank the Warren for their hospitality and wish Suanton every success as they progress in the competition. A special mention to our two supporters that travelled a distance to lend their encouragement.
